The case of an African-American wife and mother who attended a football moms’-only sleepover party in 2018 and was found dead in the backyard of the home is being re-examined.
Tamala Horsford, 40, of Cumming, Georgia, was found dead on November 4, 2018, a day after the party that was held at 4450 Woodlet Court in North Forsyth, a historically very racist part of town. The death certificate ruled that Horsford died at 1:30 a.m. Her lifeless body, which was face down, wasn’t found until 7:30 in the morning. She was discovered by the homeowner’s aunt, but police weren’t called until some time later, reportedly up to 2 hours. The Georgia Medical Examiner said she died from injuries caused by falling from the home’s balcony. She suffered trauma to her head and torso. Her neck was broken and one wrist was dislocated.
Her death was ruled an accident caused by alcohol intoxication and drugs, including marijuana and Xanax, a tranquilizer. According to her family she was not taking anti-anxiety medication and believed she had been murdered.
